Naomi is a seedling of Palmer planted in 1976. The flesh is yellow, fiberless, and has a mild, classic flavor. The seed is monoembryonic. The fruit are medium sized, oval-oblong in shape, and turn a beautiful red color at maturity. Naomi flowers and fruits twice in the UAE. ‘Palmer’ fruits were collected in 1975 from from trees that could have been open-pollinated with ‘Maya’, ‘Haden’, ‘Nimrod’, ‘Keitt’, or ‘Irwin’. Three hundred seedlings were planted in Fall 1976, and ‘Naomi’ was selected as the best of these.
